TSG Takes Majority Stake in Saltair

Founder Iskra Lawrence will serve as the body care brand's chief community advocate.

Private equity firm TSG Consumer acquired a majority stake in Saltair, the fast-growing body care brand founded by entrepreneur and model Iskra Lawrence in 2022. Financial terms of the transaction, announced late last week, were not disclosed.

Following the closing, Lawrence will additionally serve as chief community advocate. The role includes deepening her focus on the brand’s community and consumer connection, according to officials.

“We created Saltair to make body care feel more elevated, more joyful, and more personal,” said Lawrence. “That vision has resonated deeply with our community, and we’re so grateful to The Center and Prelude Growth Partners for believing in the brand early and supporting us along the way. I’m excited to see the brand’s impressive growth continue under Saltair’s leadership team, in partnership with TSG.”

“From day one, this team has built Saltair into one of the most desired names in body care — through product quality, real community loyalty, and a brand people genuinely want to be part of,” said Rachel Shelowitz, CEO of Saltair. “I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve accomplished. Partnering with TSG marks the next chapter: they share our ambition and bring the experience to propel this business to new heights. I’m energized by what lies ahead.”

Saltair was developed with The Center, a beauty accelerator. Other brands incubated at The Center include behind Naturium and Phlur.

Colin Welch, managing director and head of New York at TSG, called body care is “one of the most exciting categories” in beauty right.

“We’re excited to bring our resources and longstanding experience scaling beauty brands to support Saltair’s growth in a way that maintains the quality and ethos consumers have come to expect,” said Welch.

TSG’s recent investments also include Dude Wipes and Summer Fridays.

“It has been a true privilege to partner with Saltair’s exceptional management team, and to have participated in the tremendous growth and success of this now iconic brand,” said Neda Daneshzadeh, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Prelude Growth Partners. “We look forward to watching the brand continue to scale under TSG’s ownership.” TSG Consumer Partners has approximately $14 billion in assets under management.
